The Christian Heritage Tour begins with a walk along the banks of beautiful Golden Horn, in order to get acquainted with the area that played a significant role during the Byzantine and Ottoman Empire.
Our first stop is the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, an the area of Fener! The Mother of the Churches and the oldest centers of Christianity. Since 1586, the church of St. George in Fener, has been the seat of the Patriarchate.
We continue with a visit to the Balat area, which is part of the World Heritage List of Unesco, where we will admire the Iron Church! A Bulgarian Orthodox church, made of cast iron with Neo-Gothic and Neo-Baroque influences.
Wandering around the area, we will come across to many beautiful old wooden buildings with unique architecture! A district rich in history, which offers many sights for photoshooting, such as the imposing Walls of Constantinople with the Golden Gate, from where you could enter into the Byzantium! Little Hagia Sophia, is also a main attraction of the area, being an Eastern Orthodox church and one of the most important early Byzantine buildings in Istanbul, after Hagia Sophia.
A break for a delicious lunch, will give you the chance to taste the famous Turkish cuisine.
Next comes the striking landmark of Galata Tower, dominating the sky of Istanbul. A medieval tower, said be built during the reign of the Byzantine Emperor, Iustinianos. Today the Tower operates as touristic attraction, offering amazing views to the city!
At the end, we will walk the most famous and lively pedestrian steet in the city, the Istiklal steet, where the beautiful Saint Antoine Catholic Church is also located.
