Upon arrival in Gallipoli, we will visit the waterfront where the dramatic naval battle took place! The Gallipoli Campaign was one of the Allies great disasters in World War One. It was carried out between 25th April 1915 and 9th January 1916 at the Gallipoli peninsula. We will continue to Kabatepe War Museum which contains relics of the battle including original diary extracts and many letters.
Follows the Brighton Beach and the Anzac Cove, where ”Anzac Day” is commemorated on April 25th every year. Some other interesting sights are: the Australian Lone Pine, a solitary tree in Gallipoli, which marked the site of the Battle of Lone Pine in 1915, Johnston’s Jolly cemetery, Chuck Bair and New Zealand Memorials. At the end of the tour, we will have the chance to visit the Kilitbahir Fortress! Mehmet ”The Conquer of Istanbul” built this castle, to honor his successful siege of Constantinople in 1453! (After the end of the tour you will be transfered to Canakkale to stay overnight)
Right after breakfast we will transfer you to Troy. This is the city where the Trojan War took place, as described in the Greek Epic Iliad, one of the two epic poems attributed to Homer! Today is a famous archaeological site, with travellers from around the World! Troy was destroyed and rebuilt nine times! Till now, 10 cities have been discovered, one built on the top of the other, dating back to 3500 BC. Our experienced guide will help you to get to know with the ancient Troy and all the great history that surrounds the city. You will learn all about the most iconic figures of the war, such as Helen, Achilles and Paris! The trojan war, the famous trojan horse, the Altars and the Houses of Troy, dating back to 2500 BC (After the end of the Troy tour, we will take a break for lunch)
We will continue visiting Pergamon, an ancient Greek city, with great strategic value, which also became the first capital of the Asian province. The archaeological site of the city is really impressive! (After the end of the tour you will be transfered to Kusadasi to stay overnight)
Today the tour starts at 9:30 in the morning, after breakfast. During the tour, we will visit the impressive temple of the Greek goddess Artemis, we will take a walk at the Celsus Library and admire the Temple of Hadrian which is one of the best preserved and most beautiful structures. Many more sights, such as the Agora, the Theater, the Odeon, the Trajan Fountain, the Domitianus Temple and the Roman Latrines, will amaze you! We will take a break for lunch and after that we will have the chance to visit the lovely Catholic shrine of Virgin Mary
